Celebration of Festivals

SKLites are taught to appreciate Singapore’s vibrant ethnic cultures and traditions through engaging and authentic learning experiences: e.g., Lunar New Year, Pongal Celebration & Hari Raya Celebrations etc.

Chinese New Year Celebration 2022

Seng Kang Primary School (SKPS) celebrated Chinese New Year on Monday, 31 January 2022. Staff and students dressed up in bright and auspicious colours to usher in the year of the Tiger and learned about the customs of Chinese New Year.

In the weeks leading up to the Chinese New Year Celebration, staff put up decorative items in the school and students participated in cultural-related activities and competitions held by the MTL department.

Besides having fun with the classroom handicraft activity, students were also delighted by the surprise appearance of 

The God of Fortune, who went around the school to give out special prizes to the lucky ones.

It was a vibrant Chinese New Year Celebrations this year and it was great to see the students engaged and celebrating the festival with one another today.

Hari Raya Celebration 2022

the MTL Reading Corridor with beautiful Hari Raya decorations which created more festive cheer!

Pre - Hari Raya Classroom activities were organized for all students during MTL CCE lessons. Students learnt about the traditions and customs of the Hari Raya Puasa celebration and made beautiful traditional crafts in class.

Teachers of all races donned in their Malay traditional costumes to soaked in the festive mood on the day of the Hari Raya e-Concert.

The students were treated to a splendid virtual concert learning about the traditions of Hari Raya and taking part in activities such as dancing and singing. Students were also given the opportunities to win prizes by answering quizzes on some basic knowledge and facts about Hari Raya.

Pongal Celebration 2022

On 14 February 2022, SKLites had a chance to experience Pongal Celebration in school. To provide students with an authentic learning experience, Tamil teachers organised engaging and interesting cultural activities and fun activities in school from 10th to 14th Jan 2022!
